“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…” Matthew 28:19

“Doing Christ-Centered, Spirit-Driven Ministry; where Christ is Exalted, the Word of God Explained, the Saints Equipped, and the World Evangelized.”

This Mission Statement answers the question of why we exist as an organization—it is our “Purpose Statement.” From this purpose statement, this is “who we ought to be.” The Mission Statement is a definition of the key ministry objectives of the Church. It is a broad, general statement about who we wish to reach and what the Church hopes to accomplish.

“Where there is no Vision, the people perish” Proverbs 29:18

“To be a Loving and Lifting fellowship.”

Vision is defined as “a clear mental image of a preferable future imparted by God to His chosen servants and is based upon an accurate understanding of God, self and circumstances.” [Barna, “Power of Vision”]

It puts feet to the Mission—it speaks to how the Mission will be accomplished! From this purpose statement, this is “who we ought to be. It is very specific, detailed, customized and unique to every Church. It concentrates on the future. The Vision Statement of Damascus Baptist Church can be summed up in five words:

To be a fellowship that promotes healthy relationships in the home, workplace, and community through the unconditional love of Jesus Christ.

“From whom the whole body, joined and knit together by every supporting ligament grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.” Ephesians 4:16

To be a diverse fellowship that exalts the name of Jesus Christ through spirited wor-ship.

“And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.” John 12:32

To develop Servant-Leaders who advance God’s Vision in a changing world through shared values, vision and knowledge.

“From thy youth thou have known the Scriptures which are able to make thee wise unto salvation.” II Timothy 3:15

To connect with our community emotionally, physically and spiritually by embodying the life of Jesus Christ.

“Dear Children, let us not love with words or tongue, but with actions and in truth.” IJohn 3:18

To empower and transform our community by providing the motivation, skills and knowledge necessary for sustained change.

“He has shown you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. Listen! The Lord is calling to the city…” Micah 6:8-9
