Reverend James P. Broughton III | Senior Pastor | B.S., M.A.T.

Reverend James Broughton is the Senior Pastor of Damascus Missionary Baptist Church.

Rev. James Porter Broughton III was born in Oakland, California on July 22, 1963 and spent his formative years in the Bay Area engaging in athletics.  He was baptized into the Christian faith at age 29 under the ministry of Rev. Horacio Jones at Fremont Bible Fellowship.

Reverend Broughton received his theological training from Jessup College (San Jose, CA.) where he received a B.S. degree in Christian Leadership and Theology in 2002. He received a M.A.T. in Biblical Studies from Fuller Theological Seminary Northwest in 2005. In addition to the training he receives in service, Reverend Broughton is currently pursuing a Doctor of Transformational Leadership Degree at Bakke Graduate University in Seattle, WA.

Reverend Broughton served as Vice President of the North Pacific Baptist Convention (2006 – 2014), United Black Christian Clergy of Washington (UBCCW) President (Present), and President of the Damascus Family Resource Center (DFRC) (2015 – Present), and on the Board of Directors for CRISTA Ministries.

The burden of Reverend Broughton’s heart is to create, oversee and nurture a transformational environment of spiritual, relational, experiential and instructional dynamics where leaders can be developed and deployed globally. 2 Timothy 2:2.

The Joy and Crown of Reverend Broughton is his lovely wife, Tammi M. Broughton. The Broughtons have a blended family that includes twin adult daughters Dominique and Cymone and the blessing of their union, Anaiah.
